Anti-Rodent in cable jacketing & telecom ducts.

Anti-Rodent Masterbatch

One bite is all it takes. They leave the cable alone.

Anti-Rodent Masterbatch is a non-toxic biocide blend on a polyolefin carrier that repels rats, mice and field rodents from cable jackets, drip irrigation pipe, agricultural film and buried utilities in PE and PP compounds without compromising mechanical properties.

A bittering masterbatch built around a food-safe bittering agent, one of the most bitter substances known, pre-dispersed in a polyolefin carrier. Rodents bite-test new materials before chewing through; the intense bitterness on first contact aborts the bite and trains the animal to leave the surface alone. Non-toxic, non-leaching, permanent.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the recommended letdown ratio?

Letdown ratio depends on the application severity. Cable jackets and telecom ducts require different loadings from drip-irrigation tubes in heavy-rodent areas. Contact us for application-specific guidance on the appropriate dose for your substrate.

Which polymers and cable compounds is it compatible with?

Polyolefin carrier (LDPE / LLDPE) is compatible with PE, PP and XLPE cable insulation, telecom-duct compounds, drip-tube PE and PVC after carrier matching. The bittering agent is thermally stable across the standard cable processing window and survives standard cable extrusion. For PVC, a PVC-compatible carrier is supplied to avoid plasticiser interactions.

How does it deter rodents chemically?

The active is a food-safe bittering agent, one of the most bitter substances known. It binds intensely to bitter-taste receptors. Rodents that bite the cable jacket or pipe wall encounter an immediate, intolerable bitter taste and abandon the chew. Crucially it is non-toxic and non-systemic, deterrent only, so it complies with non-lethal pest-control regulations.

How long does the deterrence last?

The bittering agent is incorporated into the polymer bulk, not topically applied, and its vapour pressure is negligible. Field use shows it is stable in HDPE and XLPE for the life of the cable or pipe. Migration is too slow to deplete the active over normal service life.

Can I get a trial sample?

Yes. We supply trial samples for line evaluation. Specify cable construction, host resin (PE, XLPE, PVC) and the target bittering level in the final part; we ship a matched grade with a Certificate of Analysis. Sample shipping is free within India; export samples available with freight at cost.

What’s the lead time?

Standard grades ship in 7-14 working days. Custom formulations for non-PE cable jackets, PVC plenum cable or pre-mixed antiox+Anti-Rodent take 3-4 weeks. We confirm an exact timeline at the quote stage.
