Silver Masterbatch
True metallic finish for premium packaging and trim.
Silver Masterbatch is a mica or aluminium pigment dispersion on a polyolefin carrier, supplying metallic silver effect surfaces for caps, closures, cosmetic packaging and aesthetic parts with controlled flop, sparkle and orientation in the moulded part.
A metallic silver masterbatch built on either aluminium-flake or pearlescent mica-titania pigment in a polyolefin carrier. The aluminium-flake grade gives the sharper, mirror-like silver typical of cosmetic packaging; the pearlescent grade gives a softer pearl-silver shimmer with broader polymer compatibility. Used at low loading levels on blow-moulding, injection and extrusion lines, carrier MFI is tuned to match the host resin so the flakes orient cleanly at the surface without striations.
Two pigment systems, one finish family
Choose by polymer compatibility and look.
-
01
Aluminium-flake grade
Lamellar Al flakes orient parallel to the surface during flow. The result is a high-brightness, mirror-like silver. PE-compatible, not recommended for PVC or acidic environments.
-
02
Pearlescent mica grade
Mica platelets coated with a thin layer of TiO₂. Interference colour gives a softer pearl-silver. Broader compatibility. PE, PP, PS and engineering polymers.
-
03
Carrier MFI matched
Carrier polymer and MFI tuned to your line so flakes orient cleanly, no streaks, no flow lines, no leafing defects on thin sections.
Key benefits
True metallic finish
Mirror-bright aluminium or soft pearl-silver shimmer straight off the moulding and extrusion line, with no spraying, plating or secondary finishing.
Controlled flop & sparkle
Flake size and orientation are tuned so the metallic effect reads evenly across curved and flat surfaces without streaks or flow lines.
Broad polymer compatibility
Aluminium-flake and pearlescent mica grades run on PE, PP, PS and engineering polymers across blow-moulding, injection and extrusion.
Low loading, clean processing
Effective at low addition rates with carrier MFI matched to your resin, so flakes orient cleanly without leafing defects on thin sections.

Frequently asked questions
Common queries on letdown, pigment system, metallic effect and supply.
What’s the recommended letdown ratio?
Letdown depends on the pigment system and end-use application. Cosmetic and FMCG packaging typically require a higher dose for a true metallic finish on injection-moulded parts than pearlescent film and lustre applications. Aluminium-flake grades need gentle conveying (short-feed, low compression) to preserve flake aspect ratio. Contact us for grade-specific dosing guidance.
Which resins is it compatible with?
Aluminium-flake grades are formulated for PE and PP. HDPE and PP injection mouldings deliver the cleanest metallic effect. Pearlescent grades on mica-titania substrate are broadly compatible across PE, PP, PS, ABS, PET and PA. Specify your host resin so we select the right pigment system.
How does the metallic effect work optically?
Two distinct mechanisms. Aluminium flake uses thin lamellar platelets aligned parallel to the part surface during melt flow, specular reflection produces a true metallic shine. Pearlescent grades use mica platelets coated with thin layers of TiO₂; thin-film interference produces an iridescent pearl lustre.
What flake size and pigment loading do you use?
Aluminium flake is available in satin, standard and sparkle grades depending on particle size. Pearlescent mica is supplied in a range of substrate sizes. Each grade is matched to the moulding geometry to avoid weld-line streaking. Contact us for the right grade for your application and part geometry.
Can I get a trial sample?
Yes. We supply 1–2 kg trial samples with a moulded coupon so you can verify lustre, flake orientation and weld-line behaviour before bulk. Sample shipping is free within India; export samples are available with freight at cost.
What’s the lead time?
Standard grades ship in 7–14 working days. Custom effects matched to a specific brand reference (cosmetic chrome, satin pearl, automotive metallic) take 3–4 weeks including a pre-production sample. We confirm timing once your reference is reviewed.
